Fronges -renewal of fringes by hand and head locking, is designed for aesthetics and the prevention of unraveling in carpets. The fringe is matched to every type of carpet, according to the material from which the base was made (crosswise), such as wool, cotton and silk.
The fringe is the continuation of the carpet at its beginning and end, and is made in a number of patterns – with finishing or without, knots, etc.
Following are some examples of fringes
Borders -the renewal of borders by hand is designed for aesthetics and to close the lengths of the carpet (the borders). They are sometimes used also for widthwise head locking. Here as well, like with fringes, the type of thread is matched to the carpet, such as wool or silk.
